Program Pembangunan Ternakan Bantu Para Penternak

Beberapa objektif telah digariskan di bawah program ini antaranya untuk membangunkan usahawan dalam penternakan lembu dan kambing atau bebiri secara intensif atau semi-intensif.

Kerajaan juga mahu mewujudkan pusat pengeluaran bibit ternakan yang mampu mengeluarkan bibit secara berterusan untuk diagihkan kepada penternak lain. Perkara ini dikongsikan oleh Ketua Perkhidmatan Veterinar Bahagian Bintulu, Dr. Naziah binti Muntil @ Montel.

Menurut beliau, pelbagai program pembangunan ternakan telah dilaksanakan di Bintulu antaranya menerusi Program Pawah Lembu (PPL) dan Livestock Commercial Development Program (LCDP).

PPL adalah bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengeluaran daging lembu sebagai langkah untuk mengurangkan kebergantungan terhadap pengimportan daging serta meningkatkan kadar sara diri daging lembu atau kerbau ke 50% menjelang 2030.

Pada masa yang sama, kerajaan menerusi PPL juga mahu menggalakkan penglibatan pihak swasta dan usahawan ternakan untuk membangunkan ladang kambing atau bebiri bagi merealisasikan matlamat untuk meningkatkan pendapatan isi rumah para penternak kepada RM6,000 sebulan.

Menurut beliau, bantuan yang diberikan di bawah PPL ialah agihan sekurang-kurangnya 20 ekor lembu pembiak sehingga 500 ekor (maksimum).
