The Government has also introduced new policy to upgrade the specifications and components of basic infrastructure in the new SPK scheme that will be implemented.

According to the press release by Land and Survey Department, both SPK and Resettlement Scheme (SPS) will be introducing new improvements including providingbasic infrastructure such as the road connectivity which has been upgraded from gravel road to tar-sealed road.

The SPS and SPK projects are more structured as the upgrade includes basic infrastructure such as the upgrade of gravel road to tar-sealed road.

Another improvement is filled walls and the upgrade of drainage system from earth drain to concrete drain.

The cost of the project can range between RM100, 000 to RM120, 000 per lot.

Another new Government initiative in both SPK and SPS is to the reduction of the premium rate by 50 per cent for residential lots that are not more than RM2500 per lot.

This initiative will help to alleviate the burden of people of low-income category that are involved in the schemes to settle the payment of premiums.

In the rising demand of housings in an increased population, SPK can be viewed as a solution to accommodate the growing population and also the demand for affordable housing

Aside from that, the scheme also helps to resolve problems pertaining to slums and squatters.

Priorities for the selection and distribution of lots in SPK and SPS are as follow: –

  2. The applicants must consist of extended families from the same village
  3. Applicants does not have a housing lot
  4. Applicants comes from low-income category or poor family
  5. Applicants are involved in natural disaster
